The Citrus County Education Foundation will host the Inaugural School House Hustle 5K * 10K * 1 Mile Walk on Saturday, April 1, 2017.
The event will be managed by DRC Sports and held at the CREST School / Lecanto Complex. Working together with Citrus Road Runners and the Citrus County School District to promote the event, CCEF plans to attract hundreds of runners, students, parents and guests of all ages. The race will feature entertainment, a Family Health Expo and a YMCA Kid Zone. Publicity for the race will include advertisements in local publications and national running magazines; television and radio spots; announcements at local schools; print media in mailers, posters and fliers; and extensive online advertising on school and foundation websites, running and fitness sites and social media.
All proceeds benefit the Citrus County Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1988 to provide resources for Citrus County schools. CCEF is dedicated to encouraging business and community in-volvement in the public school system, promoting creative and innovative educational programs, fostering excellence in learning, and recognizing outstanding achievements of students and staff. CCEF provides classroom grants for all grade levels; scholarships for aspiring teachers, high school seniors and WTI students; classroom technology enhancements; recognition programs for students, teachers and staff; support for science fairs, math field days and student art festivals; and investment in numerous programs supporting our students, including the River Project, YMCA Youth Leadership Citrus and AVID. In fall 2013, the foundation launched First Library, a new initiative supporting the literacy needs of the county’s 22 preschool classes, with plans to reach additional grade levels based on available funding.
