Aspiring Teacher Scholarship

The Citrus County Education Foundation is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for the Aspiring Teacher Scholarship. The Aspiring Teachers Scholarship Program grants a $1000 scholarship each quarter for either non-instructional personnel or current instructors in Citrus County public schools who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level degree in education.  The Citrus County Education Foundation is committed to helping our school district grow quality, dedicated teachers to provide our students with the best education possible.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000

Frequency of Award: CCEF will review applications on a quarterly basis and will award up to 1 scholarship each quarter based on qualifying applications.  All applications must be received during the application period, any late applications will be considered during the following quarter.

Who is eligible?

Current employees who have been employed for 3 or more years by the Citrus County School District and are enrolled/or have been accepted at an accredited university or college in an area of study related to education.  Recipients must register for at least two semesters during a calendar year and be enrolled during that year for a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Past winners are not eligible for additional award for a minimum of 12 month

Selection of Recipients:

  • Applicants must be currently employed by the Citrus County School District and have been employed for at least 3 years
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in education.
  • If not currently enrolled, applicants must show a letter of acceptance into a college or university and must sign up for classes for the next available term.
  • Applicants must submit an application packet that includes the completed application, an official sealed transcript, a letter of recommendation, and an essay. (Details about the packet are included in the actual application.)
  • A committee will review the applications and select recipients based on the application packet.

Recipient’s responsibilities:

  • If awarded a scholarship, the recipients will need to complete the Payment Request Form provided by the Foundation prior to receiving the scholarship funds.
  • At date to be announced, recipients will be recognized and will receive the checks payable to their colleges. Recipient assigns to the Education Foundation the use of their name and likeness in promotional material and publishing.

Management of each scholarship:

  • The Education Foundation will oversee the distribution of the funds.
  • Checks will be made payable to the college/university that the student is attending.
